Who am I?

This morning at church I was surprised to find not one but two friends there who don't normally come. It was such a blessing to see them both there! It has made me reflect on the fact that God has been using me in others' lives, but really who am I that he would use me? It amazes me that God would stoop down to use me for His purpose. I want others to know Him because I know He is real and He is the way, the truth and the life because of what He has done in my own life. How I long to see those I love to have lives saturated in His goodness and love; for them to know how dearly He loves them and for them to love Him in return. I'm just so grateful to God for answering my prayers and most importantly for making me His own. This song was played during the offering today- I especially love the part in bold:

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.

  3. Hi Amy, your sister sent me the link to your blog so I thought I'd drop by and say hello. I like what I've read so far! Like you, I wonder why God would use me especially with the recent publication of my book. Why, when so many other Christian writers are unpublished, has He blessed me so much? But as someone pointed out to me, the fact that we realise we are so inadequate and can't do it on our own and that we need Him totally is often the very reason He does choose us. Blessings, Jules

  4. Thanks for your comment Julianne. We are tremendously blessed by a great God! I remember reading a biography about John Newton and he had said that the more he grows as a Christian the more he realises how he is in desperate need of God every moment of every day! I think if we don't come to understand that we miss the point entirely. I was talking to my Dad recently and he said that unless we absolutely know the depth of our own wickedness and how we are truly deserving of death because of it we can't then appreciate the true depth of God's grace and the significance of Christ dying for us. By the way I loved your book and cannot wait for the next installment!! :)
